Yvonne was born in Digby to the late Basil and Doris Mudge. She is survived by her son, Michael Speichts; daughters, Michelle Speichts and Sara Butler; sister, Elaine Arnold and brother, Terrell Mudge.
She was predeceased by her brother Darrell Mudge.
Yvonne was a member of Tideview Terrace Resident Council and the Fundy Tide Quilters Guild. She loved spending time sewing quilts and making crafts with the residents and staff to raise money for different activities at Tideview, her favorite was bingo. She also loved gardening with both her indoor house plants and the flower gardens outside. Decorating also brought her great joy, especially at Christmas time with her snowmen and Christmas village. She enjoyed so many things in life, three things in particular were, her soap opera, late night popcorn and shopping at Bethany Bin. More than anything she cherished any and all time spent with the staff and residents at Tideview Terrace, her family and friends.
She was loved dearly and will be missed more than words can say.
A special thank you to all of the staff and residents at Tideview Terrace for all of their love, care, help and support now and throughout her years as a resident.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. Donations in Yvonne’s memory can be made to Tideview Terrace. Burial will take place July 7, 2023 at 2pm in the Fairview Cemetery for anyone who would like to attend.

And with love from staff and residents at Tideview Terrace:
In 2009 Yvonne moved to Tideview Terrace and immediately became a member of the Tideview family. She was a strong, independent, determined woman who overcame huge obstacles to remain that way. She did her best to make it her home, decorating Prim house for all seasons and holidays, and working on the outside gardens from early spring until fall. An avid gardener, she researched plants and grew them from seed, filled her room and Prim house with beautiful houseplants and spent hours making the courtyard beautiful. She learned to quilt at Tideview against great odds, but persevered and her passion and talent shone as she taught others. She was an active member of the Fundy Tide Quilters Guild. She participated in many groups and committees, remained active in the community, an educator, and a driving force for helping others. She was involved in resident council and held all positions, “the gatekeeper” for much of its history and a mentor to all that followed her in her various roles. She was an advocate for many causes over the years and an important part of the residents having a voice. Yvonne was an Eden associate and part of the welcoming committee. She was instrumental in planning, organizing and running many fundraisers and craft sales for the neighborhood. She would often craft until the early morning to get this done. When she wasn’t crafting late at night she was often involved in intense scrabble games with the staff members or sorting through her crafting supplies getting the next project ready. She was always on the lookout for treasures and bargains and shared her discoveries with all. An amazing individual, strong in her faith, her contagious laughter, sense of humor, caring and concern for all will be deeply missed.
