

Alvin J. Kassan died peacefully at his home in East Northport NY on May 11, at the age of 90. He is loved and admired by his wife of 62 years, Patricia (Peppi), his three children, Stephen, Deborah, and Scott and their spouses Amy, Paul and Lynn, and his six grandchildren; Celia, James, Anya, Enrique, Alexa and Cooper.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1935, attended Pace University and played on their baseball team, earning an Accounting Degree upon graduation. This was followed by a two year stint in the US Army, with two more years of Reserve service in the National Guard. He earned his CPA and spent a 35 year career working at New York University, ultimately becoming the Assistant Comptroller. He raised his family in Westbury NY where he and Peppi lived for 57 years before moving closer to their children and grandchildren in East Northport, NY in 2025.
Big Al, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was respected by all who knew him for his pragmatism, honesty, and kindness. He asked very little of others but worked so diligently to provide for his family and instilled the values of moderation, hard work, and personal responsibility.
He will be forever remembered and cherished by those closest to him, and his influence will carry on with those he loved and who loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday May 27 from 2-4 pm. at I. J. Morris Funeral Home, 21 East Deer Park Road, Dix Hills, NY 11746
