David Smith

David Jacob Smith passed away on June 28, 2025 at the age of 93. He was born on September 11, 1931. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Elissa (Rock) Smith, in December 2015. He is survived by his children, Stephen Smith (Michelle Shostack) and Karen Samimi (Iraj Samimi); his grandchildren, Mathew Samimi and Juliette Samimi; and his siblings, Gertrude Lachs and George Smith.

A longtime community volunteer and Scouting leader on the pack, troop, and district levels, David also enjoyed playing golf, classical music, working on his house and yard, and being active at his synagogue. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a mechanical engineering graduate of Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, and an employee for many years of Hazeltine Corporation. He was a respectful son, an example-setting big brother, a devoted husband, a beloved father, a doting grandfather, and a helpful friend.

A funeral service will be held on July 3, 2025 at 1 PM at I. J. Morris, Dix Hills, NY. Burial will follow at Mount Ararat Cemetery, Lindenhurst, NY.
