We mourn the passing of our beloved Mother, Joan Lee Plotkin (Glatman), nee Millman, born October 1st, 1934 who ascended to heaven on February 15, 2023 to dance again with the love of her life, our father of blessed memory Edward Jacob (Jack) Plotkin. Her loving son, Russell Plotkin, and adoring daughter Leslie Plotkin DiCarlo are eternally grateful to have had their nurturing, creative, musically-gifted mother so involved in their lives. Joan was able to merge her talents as an accomplished pianist with her love for children when she turned to teaching piano after her many years working for the NYC Board of Education with many of her friends and family. She was a talented watercolorist, charcoal sketch artist, oil painter, glass artist and later even became a gifted ceramist.
Joan's life was filled with light, showering immense love on her parents, Sylvia and Irving, her younger brother Richard, her many cousins, and her aunts and uncles. Joan brought her love, laughter and joie de vivre with her from Brooklyn to Queens to Teaneck New Jersey and eventually Sarasota, Florida. Along the way she enthusiastically welcomed into the family first her daughter-in-law Terry, wife of Russell, and shortly thereafter her son-in-law Robert, husband of Leslie. She adored her grandchildren Sam and Danielle and was thrilled when they found their life soul mates Alex and Brett respectively. She embraced and loved Rob's children, Jessica and Allison immediately and was thrilled to learn of Allison's recent marriage to James and the birth of Jessica's children Amelia and Benjamin.
Our mom was full of life and love, laughter and everything positive. May she rest in eternal peace. Her memory will always be a blessing.
