Susan Nelson

Susan L. Nelson, a lifelong educator and community activist, died on November 30th, after a brief illness. A devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, Susan always dedicated time to others. She was an Early Childhood teacher in Wyandanch for over 20 years, and was selected to join New York State’s curriculum committee. She was an active member in the local, regional and state organizations of the National Council of Jewish Women, Young Ladies Aid Society, Hadassah, the National Education Society, Jewish Women International. She received awards for her dedication to “Fallen Comrades” from the Long Island National Cemetery Organization, for involvement in supporting the community during Operation Desert Storm her commitment to her community culminated in her being the National President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans of the USA after many years of service and achievement. She was a devoted daughter to her parents and in-laws. She is survived by her husband of 56 years Gene, her daughters - Robin Weinbaum (Norman) of Staten Island, NY, Lisa Nelson-Cohen (Steve) of Paramus, NJ and Terri Nelson-Morolla of Deer Park, NY and grandchildren – Matthew, Stephanie, Anthony and Sam.
