Wendy Gibson

Wendy was born on June 1, 1966 in Seaford, New York.

After graduating MacArthur High School in Levittown, New York, Wendy went on to receive an Associates degree.

Wendy married Richard J. Barry on November 19, 1988.

Wendy is survived by her three children. Her daughter, Rachel, born October 29, 1990; her son Joshua, born July 1, 1992; and her son Tyler, born March 4, 1995. Wendy is additionally survived by her granddaughter, Charlotte.

Wendy was predeceased by her father, Alfred Gibson, who passed away February 18, 2021.

Wendy is survived by her mother, Joyce Gibson, and brothers Scott Gibson and Robert Gibson.

Wendy represented everything good in life. She was a kind and loving spirit who impacted everyone she met. Her happiness was truly contagious.

Wendy loved her kids and her granddaughter more than anything in the world. She loved the beach, going for long walks, and could never get enough sunshine. Wendy spent her summers in New York with her family, and her winters in Florida. When she wasn’t enjoying the beautiful weather, she was spending time with her friends and family. Wendy loved cooking, doing Yoga, and dancing. She was the first one out of her seat at every concert, and the last one off the dance floor at every event.

In 2006, Wendy was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Cancer, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Many of you reading this may be learning of her diagnosis for the very first time today. Wendy did not allow this diagnosis to slow her down for a second nor did she allow it to dictate her life. For 17 years, Wendy fought back against cancer and won that battle each and every day. She was the strongest person in every room, proving day in and day out that her sickness was not going to affect her.

Wendy will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.

Viewing services will take place on Friday, March 8, from 12-5PM at I.J. Morris Funeral home in at 21 East Deer Park Road, Dix Hills, NY 11746

A funeral ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 10, at 10AM at Morris Funeral home at 21 East Deer Park Road, Dix Hills, NY 11746.
