Ricky Kimber, age 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, August 3, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret Von Ins and Dennis Kimber; and sister, Tammy Lou Kimber. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Elaine Kimber; children Angela (Randy) Champagne, Chad (Jennifer) Kimber; grandchildren Jaxson and Viviana Kimber, Hudson and Hayden Champagne; sister, Diana (Pete) Fowler; sisters-in-law Pat (Don) Robrahn and Clarilla Funk; uncle, Don Kimber; many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Ricky was a hardworking man who ensured that his family was always well cared for. He made a living as a supervisor in various manufacturing industries while making some wonderful friends and having a little fun along the way. After retiring, he couldn’t just sit still. Ricky took up a job driving truck and making deliveries. While he really enjoyed his new hobby, he especially cherished time focusing on so many other things that brought him joy.
Ricky is remembered for his signature mustache, and generous, selfless heart. He loved his family above all else, especially his best friend and wife, Elaine. His smile and witty jokes could warm up any stranger. When he wasn’t enjoying time with his family, there was a good chance that he was on a golf course (having all his practice and dedication pay off and lead to a hole-in-one at Diamond Springs a few years back); taking his beloved dog, Gracie, for a ride; enjoying the sunshine (at home or in the tropics; it didn’t matter where, as long as there was loads of sun); dropping a line in stream or an ocean (fishing or catching, it didn’t matter; he just loved the game of chance); or watching his lifelong favorite teams: anything and everything his grandkids played, the Dallas Cowboys, and the University of Michigan.
Ricky, may you enjoy eternal life and peace where there is no more pain, the sun is always shining upon you, you never lose another ball, you never break another line, you never have another bad hair day, and your teams always win.
Celebration of Ricky’s life will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2023, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m., at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, 4330 18th Street, Dorr 49323.
In honor of Ricky and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of West Michigan or American Cancer Society. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.kubiakcookdorr.com.
