

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2010 at Flat Rock Methodist Church Cemetery in Henderson, NC with Rev. Pam Gilliam officiating. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 at First United Methodist Church of Dothan with Dr. James Sanders officiating and Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street officiating. The family will receive friends in the church parlor from 12:30 until 1:45 Wednesday prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1380 W. Main St., Dothan, AL, 36303 or the American Red Cross, 1004 Montezuma Ave., Dothan, AL 36303.
Mr. Reavis was born April 27, 1924 in Henderson, NC. After his high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II. Following his discharge, he attended the University of North Carolina where he received his BS in business. He then began his career with J.C. Penny in Kingsport, TN and transferred to various locations before coming to Dothan in 1969. Mr. Reavis retired in 1984 after more than 40 years of service.
He was an avid golfer, a member of the Dothan Rotary Club, Woodmen of the World, the American Red Cross and Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church where he served as Deacon.
Mr. Reavis is predeceased by his wife, Josie Bert Reavis, a brother, Page Reavis and a sister, Helen Kay Reavis.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Reavis Jones (Jack) of Newnan, GA; brothers and sisters, Harold Reavis (Ferebee), Ann Creech, John Reavis (Peggy), Nancy Barker (Leon), George Reavis, Jr., Frances Tucker (Henry), Jane Wallin (Edgar) Carolyn Bullock (Len), Rose Power (Harry) and Hoyle Reavis (Diane).
Mr. Reavis' golfing buddies are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.
