Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Buddy Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time on Wednesday.

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to the Wicksburg Rescue Squad.

Mr. Lewis spent his early years in Athens, AL, attended business school in Birmingham and served six years in the United States Marine Corp with active service in the Pacific theater. After the war, he resumed a career in sales, both in Birmingham and the Wiregrass area.

Mr. Lewis was predeceased by his parents, Arthur W. and Tommie Pike Lewis; a brother, Bradford Lewis; a sister, Betty Mae Lewis.

Surviving relatives include his wife of 69 years, Xysta (Peggy) Lewis, Wicksburg; daughter, Carol Lewis, Birmingham; son, Larry D. (Jeanne) Lewis, Dothan; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Martha Ibys Gallo, Daleville; and various nieces and nephews.
