
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel on West Main Street with Dr. Harper Shannon, Dr. Cecil Sanders and Dr. Henry Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:50 p.m. Monday, prior to services.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions may be made to Houston-Love Memorial Library “Building Fund”, 212 W. Burdeshaw Street, Dothan, AL 36303, or Headland First Baptist Church, “Building Fund” 301 E. Church Street, Headland, AL 36345.
Mary Virginia was born and raised in Dothan and was a 1948 graduate of Dothan High School. In 1951 she married Richard B. “Dick” Beauchamp. She was active in the lives of their four children, always volunteering at their schools and as a Girl Scout leader. She was a devoted wife and mother.
She was employed for 18 years at Houston-Love Memorial Library as Administrative Assistant. Mary Virginia and her husband, Dick, retired to their home in Headland, AL. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Dothan, serving as a Sunday school teacher in the primary department before moving her membership to Headland First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. Beauchamp, a son, “Ricky” Beauchamp, her parents, Q. T. and Jessie Mae Patterson, a sister, Beverly Harvey and a brother, Charles Patterson.
She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Meadows of Calera, AL and Ruth (Bob) Lawrence of Dothan; a son, Robert (Robbi) Beauchamp of Opelika, AL; grandchildren, Jessica (Randy) Moore of Calera, AL, Luke (Rachel) Meadows, of Montgomery, AL Samantha Meadows of Auburn, AL, Jenny Lawrence and Ben Lawrence of Dothan, Bobby Beauchamp, Tara Beauchamp, Andee Beauchamp, all of Opelika, AL; great-granddaughters, Savannah Moore and Scarlett Moore of Calera, AL; sisters, Beryl (Mason) Holland, of Columbus, GA, Jan (Jim) Whatley, of Pensacola, FL; a brother-in-law, Johnny (Carolyn) Beauchamp, of Dothan.
