Betty Q. Gooden

Mrs. Betty Quakenbush Gooden, age 73, of Douglasville, GA passed away Friday, June 27, 2014. She was born June 5, 1941 in Greensboro, NC. She worked for over 10 years as a travel agent with Thomas Cook Travel Agency before coming to work for the Douglas County Housing Authority in 1995. For over 17 years she managed the Fowler Homes community and was dearly loved by those she served. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Missionary Church where she was very active in several ministries for the community including the One Harvest Food Ministry.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Estell Quakenbush; and one brother, Joe Quakenbush.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas Gooden; a son, Gene Gooden and wife Celia; five grandchildren; her beloved canine companion, Abbie; and a sister, Carolyn Wiggins.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Monday, June 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Douglasville, GA. She will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park.
