Hi Sue,
I always knew Calvin as a caring compassionate person, but reading his obituary greatly reinforced that belief. How diverse and caring he was in ministering to people. 
When I was about seven or eight years old my Mom and Dad arranged for me to spend a week or so with Amos and Jewel’s family. I’ve been scouring my memory of that time. Calvin was the only one of the three children to spend much time with me . We played games, hiked in the woods and played pitch with a baseball. He took me to the field where Taylor played often  and we shagged fly balls for a while.
On one of our sorties into the woods I stepped on a “prickly pear” and ended up with three or four of the spines embedded in my foot. Calvin helped me back to the house, poured kerosene on my foot and gently removed the spines. I guess the kerosene was to cleanse the spots where the spines stuck me. I still have a mental picture of Calvin pulling out those spines.

We have kept up with you and Calvin, through Taylor and Kyle. You have been such a faithful and loving wife, caring for Calvin though some very very difficult times. You have been the embodiment of the of the Savior that Calvin loved and served. This has to be what  I call a happy-sad time. Happy that he is released from a body that no longer served him, but sad over the loss of one with whom you shared  a life of love. Thank you for blessing the Taylor clan over all these years.
We love you and will be remembering you in prayers .

Calvin Phillips, better known as Cal to his AT&T associates, will be sorely missed.
He was a great boss, friend & a Godly man.  He never missed an opportunity to share his love for the Lord.  He was quick to hand out pamphlets (which he always kept with him) sharing Gods love wherever he went.  Every time we talked, either in person or on the phone, he always said how much he appreciated me & what I did for him at work.  I would always say, Cal, I am just doing my job.  To me, this wasn’t a flippant remark but he really meant what he said.  This made me, while at work, work even harder to justify his appreciation for me.  I truly loved Cal & Sue with admiration for their love for each other & the Lord.  I am deeply saddened at our loss but, we know where he is.  

When Sue & I talked, she said & I totally agreed with her.   
When The Lord met Calvin, He said, Well done my good & faithful servant.
