

Francisco “David” Sandoval-Vargas, age 67, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 23, 1957 to Joaquin Sandoval and Martha Vargas.
David was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, having served 20 years. He was a Submariner, having served on ballistic missile submarines during his service. Following his Military career, he was a manager with Norfolk Southern Railway until his retirement. He prided himself on intelligence in both his life and his children’s, making sure that his kids were well educated on a variety of things. He enjoyed the subject of history and the lessons learned from it.
An avid reader, David enjoyed the Classics, as well as suspense/thriller such as Stephen King and Dean Koontz novels. He enjoyed a quiet, introverted life. He was introspective, quick witted and an insightful thinker. He appreciated the arts, film and television. You might've caught him at a play or in the stands of a Braves' game every once in a while. He enjoyed deep conversation, a variety of music and sharing those little joys with his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joaquin Sandoval and Marta Espinosa; and step father, Nicolas Espinosa.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joyce Sandoval; children, Avriel (Ashleigh) Sandoval, Tameka (Billy) Velasquez, and Damaris Sandoval (Tariq Mohammed); siblings, Waldemar (Yolanda) Sandoval, Joaquin Sandoval, Jr., Norma (Tony) Miolan, and Sylvia Espinosa; and grandchildren, Jacob Velasquez, Sophia Velasquez, and Layla Sandoval.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will be held in the Rosehaven Chapel at 2:00 pm with his brother, Waldemar Sandoval, officiating.
