A Michigan native, Fred was a Benton Harbor High School Graduate. He joined the United States Air Force in his early adult years and thereafter found a career path working at Ford Motor Company, where he dedicated over a decade of service. An intelligent man, he enjoyed reading up on astrology and science fiction, but history was his favorite. In addition to astrology and history, he also was well read on science, and sports – he was keenly adept at Jeopardy! He enjoyed a good game of chess, playing cards, and buying lottery tickets. Fred was selfless, always willing to help a friend or family member. He would give you his last if it made your situation better.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Josephine Carr.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Ronald (Debrielle) Carr and Carole (Lawrence) Carr-Chapman; bonus children, Atiba Mckissack and Kareem Mckissack; siblings, Robert Carr, Jr., Richard Carr, Stanley Carr, Danny Carr, and Janie Kinnebrew; grandson, Derek Carr; great-grandchildren: Elahn, Harvest, Creed, and Quest; as well as several nieces and nephews and other loved ones, family, and friends.
The family will host a Celebration of Life service in the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 2:00 pm.
Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven is honored to be entrusted with the services of Fred Carr.
