Guy, also known as Buddy, was born on May 18, 1934, to the late Chester Ellis and Lois Hall Duke. He grew up in Douglas County and graduated from Douglas County High School. He went on to obtain a business degree in Marketing and Sales from Georgia State University. He was a proud Veteran having served four years in the U.S. Navy.
He entered the business world with the Sewell Company and worked in sales for 37 years. He next began a career in Real Estate, where he worked long past the retirement age. He officially retired at 85 when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He was blessed with good health and energy until that time. His favorite hobby was working in the yard or other outside activities.
He was a man of faith and a member of First Baptist Church Douglasville for 54 years. It was there he served faithfully in many areas of service. His faith and dependence on the Lord enabled him to stay positive in all circumstances. As his body was in decline, his spirit was being renewed day by day.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Vansant Ellis; son, John Ellis and wife, Helen; daughter, Julie Ellis; and granddaughter, Morgan Ellis. He and Carol were married for 62 years. He is further survived by special Ellis and Hall relatives: Jeanette Ellis Conwell, C.J. Ellis, Pat Hall Bishop, and Kay Greene. He treasured his beloved family and friends.
His family will miss his love and encouragement, his endless stories encountered in sales and travel, his positive outlook and enjoyment of life. We rest our faith in the Lord and in His promise that we will one day be reunited with him.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 12, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. The service will follow in the Rosehaven Chapel at 2:00 pm.
