OBITUARY
Jewell Montyne Atkinson
19 April, 1927 – 9 March, 2023

Jewell Montyne Atkinson, age 95, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023. She was born April 19, 1927 in Cordele, Georgia. Jewell was a devoted wife to her late husband, and a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Jewell enjoyed a long career spanning over 25 years with Lockheed serving as the secretary to the Vice President. She loved traveling and cruising all over the world with her late husband, Jack. Jewell was well put-together and organized in anything she did. Two of Jewell’s greatest loves were teaching her aerobic classes and teaching, as well as, playing Canasta. All of the classes Jewell taught were at various locations throughout Cobb County, where she was one of the past recipients for the title of Cobb County Volunteer of the Year. If she wasn’t teaching aerobics or playing cards, then at 6 PM sharp, she was tuning in to Family Feud, being an avid Steve Harvey fan—even attending several live tapings of the show when it was in Atlanta. She also enjoyed watching Two and A Half Men and Dancing With The Stars.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Jack Atkinson; and her parents, Walter and Minnie (Wright) Stelling.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Montie and her husband Jimmy Crutchfield; brother, Conrad Stelling; sister, Peggy Haywood; grandchildren, Adam Boozer and Carrie Birdwell; four great-grandchildren, Annabelle and August Boozer and Peyton and Gavin Birdwell; as well as other loved ones, family and friends.
A graveside service will be Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Southview Cemetery on Harris Street in Moreland, Georgia. A local memorial service will be held at a later date in Cobb County.
