Jovonda Marie Jones

Jovonda Marie Jones, age 65, of Temple, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, June 14, 1959, the daughter of the late Mr. William H. Cox, Sr. and Mrs. Jacqueline Cason Cox.

Jovonda was a woman of many talents and passions. She found joy in the art of crafting, with a special love for making Crocs, where she could express her creativity and skill. Her passion for cooking was a central part of her life, and she took great pride in preparing meals for her family, always making sure there was something delicious for everyone.

Her love for home interior decorating reflected her warm and welcoming nature. She took great care in creating a cozy and beautiful home for her loved ones. Family time was always cherished, and one of her greatest joys was playing games with her family, often filled with prizes, laughter, and fierce but friendly competition.

Jovonda was especially proud of her two daughters, both doctors, whom she affectionately referred to as "my two docs." Her love and support for them was unwavering, and she often spoke with pride about their many accomplishments.

Married to Mr. Danny Jones for 34 years, Jovonda was a steadfast and loving wife, holding up the family for 20 years while her husband, a submariner, was away on military duties. She was also a former teacher in her younger years and education was a central tenet of her life. In addition to helping to educate and raise a host of her nieces and nephews, she was also a foundational influence on the many students with whom she crossed paths. Moreover, she prided herself in the role as a homemaker, being a present mother to her children, and creating a loving and nurturing environment for her entire family.

Most importantly, Jovonda maintained a deep relationship and faith in Christ. As such, it is fitting that she was born on a Sunday and went home to be with the Lord on a Sunday morning.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Danny Jones; mother, Jacqueline Cox; two daughters, Dyanna Fountain and Dina Jones; bonus daughter, Magnolia Barnes; siblings William Cox, Jr., Darren Cox, Tanya East, and Gina Pickney; and her bonus grandchildren, Emeri and Ensley Garcia.

The family will receive friends at Whitley-Garner at Rosehaven Funeral Home on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

A Celebration of Life will follow in the Chapel of the funeral home at 2:00 PM.
