
Julian was born in Calhoun, Georgia on July 25, 1937, the son of the late Vernon Grogan and the late Jeannie Carney Grogan. Julian retired from Sears after working for thirty-five years. After his retirement he went to work for the First Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia, working for the church for fifteen years where he was a lifetime member. He was an avid sports fan and especially a huge “Georgia Dawgs Fan”. Julian found peace and comfort in the great outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, riding his tractor, camping, hiking, and hunting. Julian took great care of himself and was able to run in the Atlanta Peachtree Road Race over 30 times. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Tracey Grogan Ussery (Kenn), Gregory Bryan Grogan (Laurie), Jeff Grogan (Shawne); brother, Larry Grogan, sisters, Jeanell Knight and Phyllis Hogelin; grandchildren, Hannah, Samantha, Nathan, Delaynie, Cassidie and Lily.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of thirty-two years, Jane Love Grogan and sisters, Jane Sunderman and Joyce Harrison.
The family will receive friends at Whitley Garner at Rosehaven on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 29, 2023, 11:00 a.m. with Dr. John Pennington officiating.
Interment will follow the service in the Rosehaven Cemetery.
