She was the 4th child of six children. Her parents from the isle of St. Eustatius were devout 7th day Adventist who believed in the Christian education that she received from grade school in New York City through to Emmanuel Missionary College now known as Andrews University in Michigan. Her main course of study studies were in English and Library Science. Which climaxed with a master’s degree from Long Island University also in library science.
She fell in love with music at an early age. While her brothers played outside she learned to read and practiced her piano lessons. Before long she was playing classical compositions of Bach, Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart and others. Moreover, because of her dedication to her lessons, she was playing for youth meetings and then for church services.
Her marriage to James Thomas Hamilton produced two children, Michele Antoinette and Jamie Timothy. After the death of her infant son Jamie, she and her husband separated. During this time she worked for New York City Department of Social Services. After several years and promotions, she joined the Peace Corps. She was assigned to work in Saint Croix, the US Virgin Islands, where she helped improve the library system and after her assignment was completed she worked in the library at the University of Saint Croix. Prior to returning to New York she also taught libraries skills at the College in Virgin Islands VIU Virgin Islands University. When she returned from St. Croix she decided she would retire to Orlando Florida and continue work in library science at the University of Central Florida. At that time she was a member of Mount Sinai where she put her skills to work again to install a library in the church school.
Eleven years after moving to Orlando she relocated to Clermont, FL where she became a member of Clermont SDA Church. And what a blessing she was! As a member of the Claremont SDA church, yes she held several offices such as church clerk, church office manager, bulletin secretary, social committee member, voluntary librarian for Bright Horizon Christian Academy and music committee leader. She made the church services meaningful as she served as the church pianist and organist for many years. She was blessed with many talents which she diligently and selflessly used in service of God.
She enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Cruising became a fun way to visit place such as the Greek islands, Central America, Cozumel, the Bahamas, Alaska, Hawaii and so many more. Going to plays and dinner with her brother and dining with the ladies in her community.
She was a loving Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, Aunt and friend.
