

Born and raised in Louisiana, she dedicated over 30 years of her life to nurturing young minds as a paraprofessional in the New Orleans school system. Her devotion to her work and the children she supported left a lasting impression on generations of students and families.
A proud and active member of James Chapel Baptist Church in New Orleans, she sang in the mass choir and gave of her time and spirit in countless ways. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life.
Known for her cooking, she brought people together with her delicious potato salad, homemade pies, and unforgettable holiday meals with each dish filled with love and tradition. She also had a green thumb, taking great pride in her garden full of vibrant plants and flowers.
When her health allowed, she found great joy in traveling with her family. She made cherished memories on trips and cruises to places like Hawaii, Dubai, Alaska, Tennessee, and beyond while embracing the adventure with a smile.
She will be remembered for her warm heart, steadfast faith, and the love she poured into everything she did.
She is survived by her daughters, Zina Elisa (Joseph) Franklin and Tanya Yvette (Demairise) Gordon; sister, Jannie Scott McGowan, step-sisters, Doretha Clavo, and Margaret Bhola; grandchildren, Latoya (Terrance) Davis, Eddie Banks, Shanquelle Ghoram and Jamal Ghoram; great grandchildren, Saniya Johnson and Terrance Davis Jr as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, August 22 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 3:00 pm. Entombment will immediately follow the service at Rosehaven Cemetery.
