Sharon Woody Jones, wife of James Jones for 43 years, was born on New Year's Day of 1955 in Memphis, Tennessee to William and Albie Woody, and fulfilled her role of mother to more than just her three children, Brian Jones, Justin Jones, and Lindsey Miles, and her three grandchildren, Grayson Lanning, Emma Jones, and Julianne Miles. Any child who came near her, through family or friends, was treated as her own. Whether through her years of babysitting or being the neighborhood mom, she was always there with a snack and a Coke for anyone. With her best friend Barbara West and her daughter Ashley Segarra, there was never an hour that did not leave without a laugh and a smile, just as there was not a day in her life where she did not place everyone's need before her own. She truly possessed both the comedian's tongue and the servant's heart.
Married faithfully to James Jones for over four decades, her devotion to him and their family always shined through, unwavering, in every action and word. From their darling teenage romance, where James would ride his bicycle nearly two hours just to see her, to the endless love they harbored for their grandchildren, theirs was the solid, unbreakable love poets dream of writing about.
Sharon moved to Georgia in 1992 to live near her sister, Sandra Kay Pope and her husband Victor Pope. She is survived by her three children, Brian, Justin, Lindsey with her husband Peter Miles, her spouse James, her three grandchildren, Grayson, Emma, and Julianne, her dear friend Luana White, and her cousin Jackie Lipton with her husband Jay Lipton, as well as the thousands she welcomed into her heart and home.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family wishes for people to honor Sharon by donating to the American Lung Association or The American Heart Association. \
