Sue Bernice Ward, age 84, of Douglasville, passed away on June 12, 2025. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 17, 1941, daughter of the late Thomas Ratcliff Marshall and the late Doris Marie Bittick.
Sue was a freelance artist, children’s book author and illustrator. She loved to shop for and collect figurines and Southwest art, and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Joel Hampson Ward and her son, Steven Thomas Ward.
Sue is survived by her sons: Joel Hampton Ward (MarLena); and Michael Jay Ward (Amber); sisters: Merry Lee Meizelis, and Jackie Johnston; grandchildren: Alex Ward (Keri), Laura Ward, Katie Ward, Ashley Morrison (Ben), and Nicole Ward; and one great-grandchild: Ava Morrison.
