Carroll E. Jones

Born on February 2, 1924 in York, he was the son of the late Dwight L. M. and Helena G. (Sherman) Jones. He married Laura Mae (Brooks) Jones on August 8, 1942. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2010.

He graduated from North York High School and worked for 37 years as a maintenance superintendent with Brockway Glass.

Mr. Jones was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in DuBois. He had many hobbies in his lifetime, stamp collecting, model airplanes, amateur radio, astronomy, gardening, reading and bee keeping.

He was a United States Navy veteran during World War II serving in the Atlantic, Mediterranean and the Pacific participating in 13 invasions in the Pacific.

Mr. Jones is survived by six children: Michael E. (Jackie) Jones of Danville, VA, Laura Carol (Edward) Kopp of State College, Christopher Bruce (Cheryl) Jones of Coshocton, OH, Alan Lee (Joyce) Jones of Pittsburgh, Glenn Frederick (Suzi) Jones of Oxford, NC, and Janet Patricia (Stan) Neeper of DuBois; fourteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Hoff and Linda Bochoefer, both of York, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Lois “Dolly” Mell and JoAnn Jones and two brothers, Frederick and Dwight “Casey” Jones.

Funeral services will be held at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Sarah Ott officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the DuBois Area Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
