

Gay was born at home in Hyde, PA on November 9, 1922, a daughter of the late Freeman and Rose Wilson. She was raised in Curwensville and graduated from Curwensville High School in 1940.Gay worked for Westinghouse in Pittsburgh during WWII. She was later employed with Penn Traffic and Coca-Cola Co. in DuBois.
Gay was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was an active member of the community and a member of the "Little R Club" affiliated with Rockwell International. In 1982, Sid and Gay moved to Florida to enjoy their retirement. After Sid passed away, Gay held several part time accounting positions with H & R Block during tax season. In 2003, after more than 20 years in Florida, Gay returned to DuBois and lived at St. Micheal's Terrace. She then attended First United Methodist Church. In March 2009, Gay moved to Surprise, AZ.
Gay is survived by two daughters, Gaye Smith and her husband, Charlie of Surprise, AZ, Betty Lou Cook and her husband, Ken of Treasure Lake, PA; a son, David Bithell and his wife Deb of Tyrone, PA; nine grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Marjorie Cardwell and Madeline Bithell; nieces, nephews, and many additional family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc., 142 W. Long Ave., DuBois with Pastor's Assistant, Ed Reich officiating. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from 2 to 4:00pm and 7 to 9:00pm and on Thursday from 10am until the time of service. Burial will be in Centre Cemetery in Hyde, PA.
