

Born May 1, 1947 in DuBois, he was a son of the late John M. Swan, Sr. and Emma (Guthrie) Swan.
John was a veteran of the US Air force with an honorable discharge. He was employed as an EMT for DuBois EMS. John was retired from Owens Illinois in 2010.
Mr. Swan was an avid hunter, a drummer for the band Live Wires achieving a record label and having a hit single on the Billboard Top 100. He was a professional Chess Player. John was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Pirates and enjoyed watching the games with his family. Mr. Swan was a huge supporter of the Salvation Army, Red Cross, DuBois Community Days and the local Fire Departments. Every month he sponsored a child from St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
John loved Photography, camping, reading Egyptian History Books, Politics and traveling all over the country with his family especially Hawaii and Las Vegas.
The number one thing in his life was his family, children and grandchildren. He was always there for them and guiding them through life with his wisdom, knowledge and generosity.
He will forever live on in our hearts and will be sadly missed forever.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 sons and a daughter: Brian Swan, Aaron Swan and wife Brenda and Brandy Arnold and husband Justin all of DuBois; 3 grandchildren: Nathan and Mason Swan, Morgan Arnold all of DuBois; also a sister: Dorothy Locke, Kissimmee, FL.
There will be no public viewing. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
