Born in Canton, Ohio on August 28, 1934, to the late Arvine G. and Mazie (Vickers) Sheffler, Bev graduated from Canton Lincoln high school where she was in the band and played on the girl's basketball team. This is where her love of sports began. She then graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor's degree in education. Mom taught at Parma, Winchester, KY, and retired following a long career teaching second and third graders at Watson elementary school in the Perry local school district.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother Dr. Edgar Sheffler, DDS of Granville, and former husband David M. Ashbrook of Newark. Surviving are her sons, Craig of Columbus, and Bradley (Stephanie) of Dublin, her loving grandchildren Natalie (fiancé Jake Maus) of Worthington, and Jonathan of Cincinnati. Also surviving are special cousin Dorothy (Stu) Bailey of Brecksville, their daughter Karen (Ronald) Hernandez of Orlando, FL, a nephew Jeff (Barbara) Sheffler of NY, and nieces Vicki (Jeff) Lammers of Granville, Ann (Rich) Cherry of Utica, and Brigitte (Joe) Sheffler of Westerville and several very special life-long friends.

Mom lived most of her life in Canton and was a long-time member of First Christian Church.
