William J. Marchetti of Powell, Ohio passed away the evening of September 13, 2023, in the comforting presence of his wife and daughter. Colloquially known as “Bill,” he is survived by his wife of 53 years, Annette (Sunseri) Marchetti, his daughter Alexandra Marchetti, her husband Thomas Farber, and sister Carol Marchetti. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Sondra (Sunseri) Shelton, niece Dana Shelton (great niece Adina Mason) and nephew Jason Shelton (wife Amy Shelton and great-nieces Anna Shelton and Cleo Shelton). Bill was preceded in death by his mother Lena (Caserio) Marchetti, his father William Marchetti and sister Theresa Marchetti.
Bill’s journey started on December 18, 1947, in Greensburg, PA. He graduated from Jeannette High School and at the age of 17 enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served in the Vietnam War. After returning home from his service, Bill went on to obtain his BA in Political Science and MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
Bill’s career took him and Annette from Pennsylvania to Boston to Buffalo and eventually to Powell, Ohio, where he became President/Owner of Carborundum Grinding Wheel Company in Logan, Ohio. Bill and Annette welcomed their daughter, Alexandra, in 1989. Of all the titles Bill had during his life, the one he held most dear was “Dad.”
Hailing from western Pennsylvania, Bill's small-town Italian roots were never lost and influenced his grounded and unassuming nature. To Bill, there was always room for a joke to be made and no hardship that couldn’t be overcome by a gathering with an excess of Italian food.
To family, colleagues, and friends, Bill was the problem solver and safety net. Bill wanted nothing more than to make his family proud and to be regarded as a good person, husband, and father. His goals were accomplished and then some.
Visitation will be from 1-4pm with a funeral service at 4pm on September 25, 2023, at SCHOEDINGER DUBLIN, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, OH 43017. A private mass will be held on September 26, 2023, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Powell, Ohio.
