"Edwin"/ Ed Parsons., age 75 of Worthington, Ohio passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023 from Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia, a rare spinal cord disease. Ed was the son of Edwin L. Parsons Sr. and Ruth M Parsons (both deceased). He was born in Kansas City Missouri on January 17th 1948 the same date his sister Joyce was born in 1945, and the same date his brother, David was born in 1950. Ed's family moved to Prairie Village Kansas where Ed graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School and continued his education earning a degree in Business Administration at Kansas State University. Ed was a proud KState wildcat and a die hard fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. His education was interrupted by spending two years in the Army as a tanker in a M60 Al Tank stationed in Amberg, Germany. Ed has always had a love of cars. Upon returning home he immediately purchased a 1963 Corvette Stingray.
Ed went to work at Westinghouse Electric Corporation. He worked for Westinghouse and White Westinghouse for twenty years managing the Appliance Sales division. During that time Ed was promoted to manager and was transferred from Kansas City to Chicago and then to Columbus Ohio. Ed's wife Sue will be forever grateful for that transfer! Then White-Westinghouse was purchased by A.B. Electrolux a Swedish Corporation who decided to move their headquarters to Georgia. Ed's wife was ill with cancer so he chose to stay in Columbus, Ohio. Ed also worked for General Electric's Appliance Service Division and a small Electrical Engineering Firm called Masterleo. Ed retired at age 57.
By this time he and Sue were married and were enjoying their retirement. Eventually his Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia started taking over more and more of his body. He could not walk anymore and his ability to remember was getting worse. During these retirement years, Ed owned a 1995 Mazda Miata and he and Sue belonged to the Buckeye Miata Club where they made many good friends. When Ed and Sue first met Ed was going to a Lutheran church and Sue was going to Xenos/Dwell Community Church. While attending Dwell and their home church, Ed and Sue made loving friends and learned the words of the bible. Ed accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and for those of us who have accepted Jesus into our lives, we will see Ed again one day.
Ed is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sue, his sister Joyce Williams, daughter Karla Frantz and step-children Lori Cassara, Lisa Mlodoch, and Shawn Huntzinger. Ed was predeceased by his brother Dave, his son Ryan, and his wife Kathy. Ed liked cats and in no time he adopted Sue's cats Tina and Bacon as his own. Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 4th with visitation at 12:00, service at 1:00 and an additional visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 at Schoedinger Dublin 5980 Perimeter Road, Dublin OH.
