Logan William McKenna, 36, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 13th, in Royal Oak, Michigan. He is survived by his five-year-old son, Liam McKenna; parents, Denise & Tom McKenna; sister, Kirby (Kyle) Gaughan; brother, Griffin McKenna; niece, Maeve Gaughan; and two huskies, Koda & Maya.
Logan was born on April 17th, 1989, in Naperville, Illinois, but spent most of his youth in Dublin, Ohio, where he was an active member of the community – often volunteering at the Dublin Irish Festival or participating in Saint Brigid of Kildare’s Youth Group.
He attended Dublin Jerome High School, where he was a member of the marching band’s pit ensemble and served as the percussion team leader in his senior year. It’s also where he met many of his closest friends.
Logan attended Purdue University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He pursued a fulfilling career as a process engineer, investigating pipeline integrity across the energy industry nationwide.
What Logan loved most was being a father to his son, Liam, whom he co-parented with his former spouse, Allison Neal. Logan was endlessly impressed by Liam, and together they shared a love for cars, LEGO sets, sour treats, and an insatiable curiousity.
In his free time, Logan was an avid reader, spicy food enthusiast, lover of all things science fiction, part-time electric guitar player, and a certified scuba diver. Logan was a beloved father, friend, son, and brother and will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, friends can make donations to the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org/) or Make-A-Wish foundation (https://wish.org/oki) in honour of Logan’s childhood battle with cancer.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Schoedinger Dublin Funeral Home, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, OH 43017.
