He was one of the first friends I made at Purdue. I always remember he told me his leg “injury” was due to a shark bite, which I believed for altogether too long. I will always remember him as kind and respectful. He felt like a safe space during a big transition time in my life which I always appreciated. Though we haven’t been in touch for many years, my memories with him are joyful. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

When they came to visit my hometown the summer after freshman year.  Logan, David and Will

I deeply regret that I only just learned about this tragedy. Logan was my first peer mentor. I held him in the highest regard, and even at a young age, I learned so much about leadership from him. He helped me build a confidence that I didn't know I could have.  

Logan and I were in the pit ensemble together. I learned to love percussion instruments largely because of his influence. I remember playing the Riverdance show on one of the keyboards with him standing at the one next to me. We had a section that we played together, and we both thought it was so fun that we would play it in the band room all the time. We could play it basically without even looking. Sometimes, I would look over at him while we were playing and see him smiling back at me. So much fun and joy. 

I cried when he graduated because I believed it would never be the same without him. And it wasn't. And it won't be.  

He was a true gem, and he changed my life. My deepest condolences to his family.

Logan was always so gentle, generous, intelligent, successful and kind. He was a leader in so many ways. He would help us with anything we wanted or asked of him. It was an absolute pleasure watching him grow up on Cartgate Ct.  

We have Logan and the whole McKenna family in our thoughts and prayers.

When Logan was at Jerome High School, he was part of a large group of friends, including our son Patrick Sonnenberg. It always amazed me to watch their group having fun before and after band events. Logan will be missed and leave behind many lasting memories.

I’ll never forget the first time I met Logan. I was visiting Columbus from Chicago, and he welcomed me into his home with warmth and ease. From the very beginning, Logan made me feel comfortable—as if I had always belonged there. I quickly saw the kind, gentle heart he carried. It was clear how much he loved being the big brother to Kirby and Griffin, and it didn’t take long before he started treating me like family too, taking me under his wing in his own quiet, caring way.

Over the years, we connected through shared moments and lighthearted teasing—especially over Purdue vs. Illinois rivalry banter. He also never missed a chance to put me to shame when it came to handling spicy food, always reminding me that what I thought was spicy barely counted.

One of my favorite memories will always be the time he gave me what I can only describe as his stamp of approval—telling Kirby that I was, “a keeper.” This meant a lot to me. 

Logan had a steady presence, a soft strength, and a deep love for the people in his life. I’m honored to have known him, and I’ll carry his memory with me always

I remember Logan was always so kind and playful. I think the clearest memory I have of Logan was when Kirby and I watched The Ring at their house in middle school and he jumped out to scare us at random points throughout the movie. Sending a big hug and my condolences to your family ♥️

Chicago reunion with the cousins, love you Logan, you will be missed!

Logan exists at the edges of so many of my teenage memories with Kirby. He graciously used to give me rides to and from our (in)famous jobs at the zoo when our schedules lined up, and sometimes he would drop me off on his way home from school with Kirby. This week in particular one memory has been sticking out to me — the time he banned me from drumming along to music in his car because he said I couldn’t keep a beat!! He did percussion in the band, so this was particularly offensive to him, he explained. 

Logan was thoughtful and kind, and gone from this world too soon. I’ll think of him everytime someone tries to photograph me entering the zoo with my son, and anytime I (still) can’t keep a beat.

Logan was one of a kind.  He helped me through some difficult times and didn’t mind one bit.  He was positive, funny, and so caring. I can hear him saying “What up J-fer” so clearly even after several years.  
Even though life took us different directions after the end of our college years I’ll always look back in our friendship with a huge, huge smile.  He will be so greatly missed. 
I wish peace and comfort to his family and closest friends.  Rest in peace dear friend.

Dear family and friends of Logan, 

Please accept my sincere condolences and sympathy for this immense loss. I have so many fond memories of Logan at Jerome. I remember him so proud in his band uniform and we always spoke in the hallways. Mostly I remember his great smile. Logan was a positive friend to all. I was proud to be his principal. May God and love bring you comfort in this difficult time.

You and Aunt Denise were so kind to welcome us with open arms to Columbus when we moved, bringing us your favorite food and patiently watching the girls do a very long talent show.  That evening felt so special.

I remember getting to know you a lot better on this trip to honor grandpa.  Eating tacos at the airport together, & sitting together on the flight home.  You even shouted “Hey Cuz!” from across the room, which made me laugh.

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Logan.  He was a good friend of my son Daniel.  They met at Purdue and became good friends.   Logan showed what a good friend he was when Daniel became ill and Logan took him to the hospital,  called us, and waited with Daniel until we arrived.  I will always appreciate his kindness and caring.  Rest in peace,  Logan.

As Logan‘s youth minister at St Brigid of Kildare during his high school years, I have many beautiful memories of Logan. His heart was gentle; he was kind to everyone; he was reliable; he was fun and he was a deep thinker. One time he told me the best thing that ever happened to him was that he got cancer as a child. I was pretty shocked until he explained that it helped him define what was really important in life.  He said, as a child,  he was a really good athlete and he figured he would have been identified as such all of his life, but cancer changed all of that for him. His words: it taught him what was really important: faith, family, friends, love. I loved having him in my youth group along with his sweet sister, Kirby, and Griffin.
