

Lowell E. Polley died in his sleep May 5, 2025, at Dublin Retirement Village with his daughter Cheryl Hoskins by his side. He was born October 26, 1927, to Frank Polley and Pearl K. (Williams) Polley in Blaine, Kentucky. After graduating from high school in 1946, he entered the Navy and was stationed in Washington D.C. In 1948, Lowell married Thelma E. Lyon. They subsequently divorced and he later married Cynthia (Roysdon) McClanahan. He is survived by his children L. David (Deborah) Polley, Cheryl (Kenny) Hoskins and R. Andrew Polley, and step-children Doug (Trish) McClanahan and Karen (Drew) Homovec as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Thelma, Cynthia, a sister, Peg Kirschner, and a second daughter, Elizabeth Ann Ingram.
A graduate from the Ohio State University where he studied accounting, Lowell began his career in business at Corrugated Container Company. He subsequently left Corrugated and joined the R.G. Barry Corporation. During his time at R.G. Barry, he decided to form a box company that was to become Buckeye Boxes, Inc. in partnership with three former colleagues from Corrugated Container Co.
Lowell took up running later in life, and he competed in several marathons. He completed his last marathon, winning his age group, at the age of seventy. He was an avid cyclist taking many organized tours with groups; he took his last tour at the age of 92. He loved the out of doors, especially the mountain west. His last trip to the mountains was at the age of 91 for a week hiking in Glacier National Park with one of his grandsons.
Lowell had a long and full life which he lived with love and appreciation for family and friends, and with gratitude for the life he had been given.
A funeral service for Lowell will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017, followed by a reception from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
