

Marcia Brown Krohn, 91, passed peacefully on February 12, 2025, attended to by her family. A native of Buffalo, New York, Marcia also lived in Carmel, California before spending most of her life in the Chicago area and then eventually relocating to Ohio to live with her daughter.
Marcia was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Patrick C. Krohn, as well as her parents Katherine and Edmund S. Brown Sr. and siblings Karin Roach, Edmund S. Brown Jr., and T. Alan Brown. She is survived by her children, Christopher E. Krohn (Jenny McClain), and Shannon Krohn, as well as her grandchildren Lauren E. Krohn, Sarah Ruth Krohn, Abigail Krohn, Molly K.B. Krohn, and Alexis Krohn.
Marcia earned her Bachelor's degree in physical education at Michigan State University. An avid tennis player and cultural enthusiast, her sense of adventure led her and several friends to make a memorable trip around the world in 1951. She traveled Europe in a Volkswagen bus, crossed the Himalayas in a DC3 airplane, and reached the far East before returning home with her treasures and a lifetime of stories.
A devoted teacher, Marcia served for more than 25 years in the Winnetka, Illinois Public Schools, briefly at New Trier High School and then for many years at The Crow Island School. She also served on the Board of the Winnetka Community House, and as Executive Director of the Community House Day Camp. She will be remembered by her family, friends, and generations of Winnetka's children.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
