Born in 1931 to Howard and Helen Murray. Lived more than 92 years. Margie married Byron Skinner, one of those ornery Skinner boys, in 1949. She became a widow in 2010.
She did not have an easy life. Her parents divorced when she was a child. Margie married at 18 and had five children, losing her infant son, and years later losing Chuck, Steve, and Amy. Byron developed Lewy body dementia and while physically present, his mind left him. Margie’s life-long partner was gone years before his death.
A woman of faith, Margie belonged to the Church of Christ, attending Northeast and then North Park, while living in Columbus. Upon her move to Marysville after the death of her husband, she joined Trinity Lutheran Church.
While she had much sorrow in her life, there was also light and joy. She looked forward to her yearly vacations with her brother Bill and sister-in-law, Katy. They spent 19 vacations together. Her cousin Betty was more like a sister to her and even though they lived miles and hours apart, they were always in touch. Margie loved to read, and up until her death, there were stacks of books at her side.
Margie was known for taking in strays, both of the human and animal variety. She always wanted to help those she felt were in need, providing if someone was worse off.
She wanted to remain in her home for the rest of her life. She almost made it. 2023 was a rough year with several hospitalizations, eventually leading to a need for nursing home care. Her family is very grateful to Union County Senior Services, who helped at home, Memorial Gables Nursing Home, who took exceptional care of her, and Loving Care Hospice, who was there at the end, giving her the care and comfort she needed.
Surviving are the family who supported and loved her during her final years, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Katy Murray, daughter and son-in-law Linda and Tom Hallinan, daughter-in-law Mary Jo Skinner, grandchildren Maggie, Kerry, Kelly, Kevin, Brad, and Katie and their spouses, great-grandchildren Kasi, Stephen, Emma, Conor, Bennett, Cooper, Rowan, Ben, Emma, Harper, and Jackson, and of course the pets, Zachie and Charlie.
Marjorie will be missed.
Visitation for Marjorie will be held Monday, January 8 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin 43017. Her funeral service will be held at Schoedinger Dublin on Tuesday, January 9, at 10:00 a.m. followed by graveside service at Green Lawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Avenue, Columbus 43223.
