Patricia "Patti" Gignac Johnson, 71, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on November 15, 2025. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and dedicated educator, Patti brought boundless energy, infectious laughter, and unwavering kindness to every life she touched.
Patti was born on April 8, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Richard "Dick" Gignac (d. 2006) and Margaret “Marge” Gignac (d. 1996). She grew up in Livonia, Michigan, alongside her older brother, Richard "Rick" Gignac. After graduating from Ladywood High School, she continued her passion for learning at Michigan State University, where she met the love of her life, Peter “Pete” Johnson. Patti and Pete were happily married for 48 years, and incredible partners, supporting each other personally, professionally, and spiritually through all of life’s ups and downs.
Patti earned her Master's degree from Eastern Michigan University. She dedicated more than 30 years to teaching students who were deaf and hard of hearing through Columbus City Schools’ C.H.I.P program, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives.
Patti was the proud and loving mother of her three boys, Michael, Jeremy, and Ryan Johnson. Patti and Pete raised their family and established deep roots in Dublin, Ohio for the past 40 years. A constant source of joy, Patti made life an adventure for her boys-always finding time for activities, games, and costumes. She never missed a sporting event and ensured family dinners were a nightly tradition. Her boisterous, infectious laugh was a signature trait; everyone knew when Patti was in the room. She was a whirlwind of energy, expertly balancing her family, professional life, devotion to her church, St. Brigid of Kildare in Dublin, Ohio, and service, through the Bishop Watterson High School Board and other community organizations.
Patti lived life to the fullest, even as she dealt with a rare form of Parkinson’s late in life. She loved walking, biking, and playing golf with Pete and her friends at the Country Club at Muirfield Village. A voracious reader, she treasured bible studies and book club discussions along with the deep friendships they fostered. Patti also worked hard to maintain close relationships with her beloved nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends, always bringing family together. She especially loved Christmas, and the baking, cooking, music, presents, and togetherness that came along with the holiday season.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her six grandchildren, who were the shining lights of her later years, Kellan (12) and Reagan (10), children of Michael and Jill Johnson; Edmund (13) and Graham (11), children of Jeremy and Mandy Johnson; Sylvan (10) and Arden (10), children of Ryan and Jodie Johnson.
Patti is survived by her devoted husband, Peter Johnson, who was the love of her life and dedicated caregiver in recent years; her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael (Jill) Johnson, Jeremy (Mandy) Johnson, and Ryan (Jodie) Johnson; her six adoring grandchildren; and her brother, Richard "Rick" Gignac.
Family will receive friends Sunday, November 23, 2:00–5:00 p.m. at Schoedinger Dublin Funeral Home, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, OH 43017.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 24, 11:00 a.m., St. Brigid of Kildare Church, 7179 Avery Road, Dublin, OH 43017, followed by a parish luncheon. A private burial will take place, Friday, November 28, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, MI.
