

Shaila V. Patankar, 80, of Dublin, Ohio passed away on March 13, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on May 16, 1944, in Mumbai, India to the late Vimal Gopinath Vadhawkar (Kotwal) and Gopinath Narayan Vadhawkar. She received her bachelor’s in chemistry and in her earlier life worked as a respiratory therapist and later in life she was a math and reading instructor for Kumon. She enjoyed playing both Bridge and Euchre at the Dublin Rec Center.
She had a phrase, “You can’t afford to buy anything cheap” meaning if you bought the cheapest product, it would break quickly and you’d end up buying another one, so you might as well get the better-quality product. Her daughters Uma and Aneeta will remember how she lived a peaceful and quiet life surrounded by the people who cared about her. As a family they have cherished memories from family cruises, Aneeta’s wedding, sight-seeing around DC, and visiting family in India. A few of her favorite things included the color emerald green, jasmine flowers, blueberries and peacocks. She will be greatly missed for her outgoing personality, upbeat attitude, her joy for education, and her wonderful cooking.
Shaila is survived by her daughters Uma Patankar and Aneeta Yodichkas; son-in-law Khristopher Yodichkas; brother Arun Vadhavkar; aunt Prabha Vadhawkar. She is also survived by numerous cousins Girish Kotwal, Abhay Vadhavkar, Alka Cohen, Kalika Antao, Pradeep Vadhawkar, Nandakumar Vadhawkar, Jayashree Ambegaokar, Uday Donde, Sulabha Tipnis, Pratibha Vaidya and nieces and nephews Sonal Chitre, Nishit Vadhavkar, Samir Vadhavkar, Mandar Vadhavkar. She is preceded in death by her husband Vinodkumar and her parents.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday March 18, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Schoedinger Dublin; 5980 Perimeter Drive Dublin, Ohio 43017 with a service immediately following at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made in her name to Pink Ribbon Good.
