William (“Bill”) Ellis King, 79, of Dublin, Ohio, died on December 4, 2025, in Dublin. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 3, 1946, the son of the late Harry “Bud” King and the late Virginia “Jinnie” Ellis King. He attended Mt. Airy Elementary School and Finneytown High School, both in Cincinnati. He played the piano, composed his elementary school song and, in high school, volunteered for the audio-visual squad and sang in the chorus. These interests led him straight into the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts: Radio-TV. At UC, he was active in the chorus and had a late-night show on the campus radio station, WFIB, where he spun records and played an occasional prank.
After graduation, he moved to New York City and began a freelance career doing audio and camera work for shows featuring performers as varied as the Sesame Street gang, Reverend Ike, Leonard Bernstein, Barbara Walters, Willie Nelson, Vladimir Horowitz and John Lennon. For many years he was Operations Director for the Texaco-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network, broadcasting operas around the world every Saturday morning during the season. Always, Bill loved his work, loved music.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and by his stepson, Thaddeus Edward Novak. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Janet Broberg Novak King. He is also survived by his brother, Steven King, his sister, Judith Witte, loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.
