

Elma was born and raised in Jacobson and graduated from Hill City High School. She was united in marriage to Chet Anderson on April 26, 1942.
She was a proud waitress in Duluth for over 60 years, retiring from the Radisson Hotel. She was awarded national employee of the year from the Radisson Corporation when she was 74 years old.
Elma was a member of the American Legion, Elks, Moose, VFW, and Owls Auxiliary clubs. Elma enjoyed playing golf, going bowling, and doing crossword puzzles. She also had a heart for sports and was an avid Vikings and Twins Fan. Her Favorite teams were the Trojans and the Gophers, mostly due to her sons’ accomplishments at both schools. Elma’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Sr.; son, Chester Jr.; grandson, Kristopher Schoenborn; parents, Jacob and Katri Punkka; and six brothers and sisters.
Elma will be greatly missed by her son, Mel (Kim Nelson) Anderson; daughter, Janet (Everett) Schoenborn; grandchildren, Joshua (Danielle) Anderson, Penny (Steve) Mackey, Jessica (Regan) Dirkx, Jacob Anderson, and Mia Anderson; great-grandchildren, Kacey, Mackenzie, and Sydnie Mackey, Hans & Brita Anderson, and Caden Dirkx; and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Visitation: 11 until the 12:00 noon memorial service Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 North 56th Avenue West. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Essentia Health Home Hospice for their care and support.
