Frank was born in Duluth and moved to McGregor in his early childhood years. He worked on the family farm and was a proud member of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). He was honorably discharged from the CCC on March 31, 1938 in the state of Washington. Frank joined the Army Air Corps and worked as an aircraft mechanic while being stationed in Arizona. After he was discharged on February 24, 1945 he moved back to Minnesota to be an automotive mechanic prior to being a heavy equipment mechanic.
He spent the last 56 years in his home outside of Proctor. Frank enjoyed spending time restoring antique cars and selling them. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable gardens.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia.
He is survived by his two sons, Steven (Cheryl) and Michael Nordstrand; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Aaron; and sister, Doris Sipila.
