Irene Mildred Sundberg

She was born January 19, 1931, in Lake Norden, SD, to William Isaac Isaacson and Hilma Walbor Lehtola, her loving parents. She married James David Sundberg on Dec. 24, 1955, in Minneapolis, MN. Irene was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sisters; and sisters, Florence Prouty and Lillian Englund; and brother

Glen Isaacson. Irene is survived by daughters, Sarah (John) Grandson and Kristine (Thomas) Aili of Duluth, and Susan (Brian) Homola of Rochester; sons James (Anna), Charles (Laura), Brian, Daniel, David (Bonnie), Raymond (Kimberly), and Ronald (Shelly) of Duluth and Arnold (Kay) of Dassel, MN; 75 grandchildren and 95 great-grandchildren; sisters Mamie Pedersen and Elaine (John) Sundberg of Duluth, and Helen (Carl) Rivers of Weatherford, TX; and many beloved brothers and sisters of the Christian faith. The family extends special thanks to the kind staff at The Shores, St. Mary’s Medical ICU, and Franciscan Health Center of Duluth.

Visitation: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, at the Old Apolstolic Lutheran Church, 5755 Ryan Road Duluth and continues on Thursday, October 17, 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Burial at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church Cemetery.
