

Lawrence attended Proctor High School and in 1952 was drafted into the US Army and served in the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Purple Heart. His first job was working at the Meade Gun Club on Hwy 2. Lawrence was a fireman on the DM&IR before working 32 years as a Maintenance Equipment Operator at UMD, retiring in 1990.
Lawrence enjoyed hunting, camping, winters in Galveston TX and his walks on the beach. He will be remembered for his quick wit and his sensitivity for people around him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Doris (Jensen) Marlow.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Phyllis (Doyle) Jensen; daughter Paula (Mike) Gaboury of Burnsville, MN, son David (Angel) Jensen of Columbus, OH, daughter Gerri (Tom) Empey of Galveston, TX, daughter Susan Jensen of Elk River, MN; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
Memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday January 8, 2011 at Forbes United Methodist Church, 33 Grove St, Proctor MN. There will be a visitation one hour prior to service, Rev. Pamela Barbour officiating. The family would like to extend a special ‘Thank You’ to everyone at St. Luke’s Hospice, Pastor Pam Barbour and everyone for their prayers and thoughts through this difficult time. Memorials preferred to Forbes United Methodist Church.
