Dieter Claus Mueller, beloved Husband, Father, Grandpa and Opa drifted peacefully into eternity from his home in Cowichan Bay June 21, 2025. He fought his battle with cancer well and enjoyed six more months of adventure than expected with his wife, Donna. Under her loving care, they continued taking a few more boating and road trips, celebrated his 88th birthday, had a few more Euchre tournaments with family and friends and was blessed to meet his youngest grandson, Reuben Mueller born in February. Dieter and Donna are grateful for the wonderful support and care they received from the Palliative Care support team and Dr. Persson from Mill Bay Medical Clinic.
Dieter will be remembered for his love of classical music, sailing, a good political debate and appreciation for the beauty of nature. Dieter was very proud of all his children and grandchildren. He valued their education and taught his children in particular to engage in many social situations with well-read debate! A feisty dinner conversation was the norm in the Mueller household – right until the end!
Dieter was born in Leipzig, Germany January 31, 1937 and immigrated to Canada in 1956. He was an ambitious young man and a talented self-taught pianist. Among his many self-employed businesses, he was most shaped by his piano business where he restored and tuned pianos, notably, was his trip to Dawson City where he was commissioned in to restore an old upright player piano for the museum. He was also an expert tuner, tuning pianos for the Victoria Symphony Orchestra. Dieter retired in 2009 and worked on contract on occasion for a few of his favorite clients or for a few of his favorite pianos!
Dieter is survived by his wife Donna, although together they had no children, their home was always open for Dieter’s blended family. Dieter is survived by his first wife Margaret, their eldest daughter, Wendy (married Ron Gaudet) grandchildren Rochelle, Joel (married Celeste) & Makenzy Gaudet and Dieter’s eldest son Peter Mueller (partner Sherri), from Dieter’s second marriage to Elizabeth, their daughter Heidi (married Ian Young-Thompson) grandchildren, Jenna, Nathanael and Cameron Young-Thompson and youngest son Chris Mueller (married Lianne), and grandchildren Constance and Reuben Mueller.
Rest in Peace Dieter, Dad, Grandpa and Opa, our memories of you are timeless in our hearts.
