Duana “Dee” Lorraine Watson (nee Hunt/Lozowchuck) died unexpectedly in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on the 30th of December, 2018 at the age of 59. Duana is survived by her husband Dan; her children Juana-Marie (Chris), Katrina (Jason), Danny and Penny-Lee (Cole); her grandchildren Connor, Ana, Allister, Mckenzie, Clayton, Quinn, AJ, Skylar, and Abigail; her mother Marge; her siblings Russel, Lorne Darrel, Wanda, Rita, and Bill. She is preceded in death by her father Alfred, and her siblings Lorna and Gary.
Duana was born on December 4th, 1959 in Fort St. John and grew up in Victoria, British Columbia. She married Dan, a sailor in the Royal Canadian Navy, in 1978. Over the next 40 years they would welcome 4 children and then 9 grandchildren into the world. They lived in 3 different provinces before settling down in Duana’s dream home, a small cottage in Shawnigan Lake, BC. Here Duana spent her time watching her grandchildren, hosting family vacations, helping her neighbours, happily reading, online gaming with her Rift community, or taking care of her fur babies Tonka and Zuki.
Duana was both generous and self-less and would do anything for her family. She will be remembered for her kindness, her love of animals, and her sense of humour. Duana never ended a conversation without saying “I love you” but her most frequent phrase was “where’s Tonka?”
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 at 1pm at First Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Brae Road, Duncan BC with a reception to follow at the same location. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Duana’s life.
