Harlene Muriel Rhodes

Harlene is survived by her 2 daughters, Bonny Hastings (Barb Graham); Barb Hastings; Step-daughter, Sharon Challen (Michael); Step-son Glen Rhodes and her sister, Mary Llyn Sayers (Emerson) along with her many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Harlene is predeceased by her husband, William (Dusty) Rhodes, her daughter, Jill Hastings; son, Greg Hastings; grandson, Matthew Zupanc and her sisters, Shirley, Joan, Dorothy and her brother Ken.

After moving to the Westcoast in the late 1970s with her first husband Beryl, Harlene's playground became the beaches and ocean surrounding Vancouver Island. She remarried in 1987 to her Captain, Dusty, becoming first mate on their boat the Tsekoa. Harlene was a true fisherwoman who could, run a downrigger, wield a cleaning knife, crack and peel crab like no other, all while telling the biggest fish story and while steering the boat! Harlene's greatest joy was gathering with family & good friends. Always an entertainer, Harlene was an amazing cook, so you would often find yourself on the boat or at their condo sharing a meal and celebrating an occasion, often wearing a silly get-up! She will be remembered for her big heart, generous kind spirit and the love she shared to all.
