

Leslie Szilagyi, aged 88 of Ladysmith, British Columbia passed away peacefully on Saturday August 29th in the city of Duncan at the Cowichan Hospice House on Vancouver Island. He was a loving grandfather and friend who will be missed by his grandchildren and friends. Born in Hamilton Ontario on May 24, 1938 he led a life of no compromise and was endlessly dedicated to his family.
Les, as he was known to his friends, was an educator for most of his life and this carried over into his personal relationships, hobbies and passions. Leading by example he was a multi instrumentalist enjoying playing jazz and classical music on the saxophone and piano. A fitness buff, he was running marathons and ultramarathons well into his eighties. He enjoyed building and refinishing cars, boats and motorcycles. His curiosity kept him reading about historical figures and various historical events.
Leslie enjoyed sailing, hiking and occasionally hunting around the island. He is survived by his three children, Miles, Christopher and Justin and will be missed by his grandchildren, Matthew, Maeve and Finbar friends and family.
