Linda Brunt (nee Canning)

Born and raised in the Lower Mainland as the youngest of six, Linda met her husband, Terry, using her dad’s CB radio while Terry was living in Bamberton. She invited him to a dance in Vancouver—forgetting to give him directions—and knew he was the one when he managed to find the dancehall without an address or a map (this was well before Google maps on your phone!).

Linda and Terry settled in Cobble Hill to raise their family. Quietly and steadfastly, she supported her kids in everything they did. After her children graduated high school, Linda went back to school to become a Home and Community Care Aide in the valley. It was a natural fit for her generous, caring nature. She was known to go well beyond her official duties just to make sure her clients were truly looked after.

In her spare time, Linda enjoyed painting ceramics, needle art, keeping sharp with puzzles and reading, and playing a good game of crib.

Her grandkids held a special place in her heart. Together, they spent sunny days at Shawnigan Lake, picked berries around the yard, sat on the porch swing, and filled the kitchen with the smell of freshly baked cookies.

Linda is survived by her brothers Wayne and Art; sisters-in-law Anne and Rose; children Angela and Frank (Chantel); grandchildren Elowyn, Jayce, Sophie (Val), and Olivia (Travis); along with many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to her healthcare team: Rae, Pat, Sandra, and Sharon; Dr. Eeles, Dr. Wenzel-Smith, Dr. Masuda, and the VIHA Palliative team for their care and support.

At Linda’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the BC SPCA or the Sylvan United Church (formerly Mill Bay United Church).
