Remembering Jean and  Lioll with fond memories of days gone by.

Many good memories of our times together

It has been 2 years since I last saw your lovely face. 2 unbelievably hard years. They say time heals - whoever 'they' are. This separation is not getting any easier my love. I go about my daily business one day at a time with a brave face but are torn up inside, I miss you so.

To Jean and family,  just a note to let you know I am thinking of all the good times we have had over the years with you and Lioll.    The back and forths he and Peter had were filled with humour.   They are probably just carrying now too.

I first meet Lioll at College 65 years ago when we were both students on a building construction course. I gave him a lift home and that was the start of a long friendship between our later families  We holidayed together in Europe, Canada and America
Wonderful times  He was a great bloke and would tackle anything at home, so our construction course worked even though he gave it up for the easier money in Insurance !.  Jean bless her and Pat and the six kids all got on well and we all have many great memories of the times we spent together.

Our memories go back to the late 40's - we too were re-housed after the war with the many London families to the more peaceful and serene Essex countryside. Thus we met Jean first and subsequently Lionel - and our firm friendship was forged and has survived the many  miles  separating us.
Will be thinking of you Jean,  and send our love and support to you and your family.

 I wish    I could be with everyone tomorrow as Lioll's life is celebrated.  Lioll's humor and wit   were amazing and he ( as many would also say) had a way with words.  Kindnesses to our family were many from the dynamic couple of Jean and Lioll!  Much love to Jean and family.

Lioll was always having fun at all the gatherings that I had seen him at. The last one was at Simons wedding where he made me dance with him !!! I don’t dance lol

Lionel was born in the East End of London and spent his early childhood there for the most part, these intrepid people refused to move and the next years they endured the horrors of the Blitz. Lionel survived and at the age of 11 years, his family and many others were moved to a new town in the Essex countryside. Many displaced kids from these areas were  moved there, and firm and long lasting friendships were formed. This was the time he met this annoying girl Jean, also 11 years old, who always seemed to be hanging around. Well, she hung around for the next 72 years. His first job was at the Savoy Hotel where he held several positions. He worked hard and had a plan. Lionel, always had a plan. It was 1959 and at this point with a wife and small son he decided he had to get into a job with ‘prospects.  he applied to the Prudential Assurance and became the ‘Man from the Pru’. He was then offered a job with a  Life Assurance company which meant he could improve his life Insurance knowledge. He heard of the opportunities for young people in Canada, 2 more children had joined the family by then and in 1971 he  was accepted to emigrate to BC. He joined London Life, had many businesses throughout the years and finally returned, and then retired from London Life. His family grew and he was so loving and proud of the adults they had all become. He loved telling people that he was a proud Grandad and a  Great Granddad.
