Oct. 5, 1928 - Oct 10, 2017
Born in Portola CA to parents Nellie and Albert. Marge was the oldest of three children, Harley (deceased ) and Pat. She was close to her siblings and much enjoyed her time with them.
Marge’s father was a contractor and he moved the family many times before settling in Vernon, BC. Marge graduated from Grade 12 and promptly married Doug Brown, who predeceased her in 1994.
She was the mother of two children Lynne (Lynne) and Wayne (Janet) and the grandmother of three boys: Chris (Tesia), Andrew (Kerry Lee) and Kyle (Kendra). She was great grandmother to: Corbin, Hattie Mae, Holden, Tratian, Sean, Alex, Elizabeth, Hunter and Ryder. Marge also had many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved and who will greatly miss her.
Marge worked for the Ministry of Highways for 33 years. In her time there, she broke through many barriers set in place to prevent women from advancing into management. She retired from Nelson District as the Regional Financial Officer.
Marge did not have many hobbies beyond reading the papers, watching the news and disliking crooked politicians. She has a wonderful sense of humour and gave new meaning to the term “ Stubborn”.
A “Memories of Marge” Memorial Service will be held in Vernon on the May long weekend, 2018. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you consider a donation to her favorite charities in Victoria: Our Place and The Mustard Seed.
Arrangements under the direction of First Memorial Funeral Services, Duncan, BC.
