On February 14, 2016 a beautiful light went out in this world. Our Nancy passed away at the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan. This has put an end to the pain Nancy suffered while living courageously with cancer for several years. She is survived by her loving wife Jen, mother Monica, sisters Norma (Andre) and Susan (Dave). Nancy was predeceased by her brother Wayne and father Orvil.
Nancy was born in Ottawa, Ontario, and grew up in the Gatineau Hills of Quebec. Nancy was a federal government employee for many years. She and Jen moved to Vancouver in the fall of 1995, where she continued to work as a microfilm technician. She retired from the City of Vancouver Archives and moved to Chemainus in 2012 to be close to Norma and follow her creative passions.
To know Nancy was to love her. She will be remembered for her beautiful radiant smile, quick wit, intelligence and easy-going charm. To witness her happy positive spirit when facing cancer and its challenges was awe inspiring. She left us far too soon, at only 55 years old, and we will miss her greatly.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Cowichan District Hospital or Victoria Hospice. Our family would like to thank Dr. Valorie Masuda and Dr. Gisela Wenzel-Smith as well as all the nurses who cared for Nancy during her journey.
