Nollaig MacKenzie died at 86 on September 24, 2026, surrounded by family, at his home in Chemainus, BC. Nollaig is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann, brother Will (Sandra), sister Winnie and sister Fiona Middlemiss (Barry), seven nieces, two nephews, numerous grand nieces and nephews, and many great grand nieces and nephews.
Nollaig was born in Scotland, immigrated to Canada as a boy, and grew up in Duncan, BC. He was a philosophy professor at Glendon College of York University in Toronto. He retired back home to Vancouver Island, where he enjoyed being with his family and getting better acquainted with its younger generations. Early in his retirement, Nollaig took great pleasure in learning to play the piano. His two great passions in life were classical music and science fiction.
