

Rae Margret Moir died June 12, 2022, 4 years later to the day of her beloved husband, Ted Moir. She is survived by her son Mark Moir (wife Kathy Moir) and daughter Cathi Jefferson (husband Parker Jefferson), grandsons Brett, Christopher and great granddaughter, Booklynn.
Rae was born in Brittania Beach the daughter of Angus and Kathleen MacLean 2 months premature. Rae met the love of her life, Ted Moir, during high school at North Van Senior Secondary. After high school Rae trained at St. Paul’s Hospital where she became an RN. Though her father was pleased she went into nursing as his wife had he had hoped she would have pursued opera with her beautiful soprano voice. Her career was at Lion’s Gate Hospital in North Vancouver as an operating room nurse.
Her main passions, which she shared with her husband, were curling and fly fishing. She was a successful curler but found her true calling was coaching and became very involved in the curling community with her commitment in Junior Curling. She went on to coach Provincial, Canadian, World and the 1st Olympic champions with the Linda Moore team when curling was a demonstration sport at the Calgary Olympics. Her accomplishments are acknowledged in the BC and Canadian Sports Halls of Fame.
Rae will be missed by many she touched and influenced through her life journey.
