Reid passed away suddenly, leaving family and friends to remember how he touched their lives. Loving husband, father, grampa and great-grampa. Reid will be missed by his wife of 68 years, Rose. Also greatly missed by his three daughters: Rosemary Rigsby (Grant), Fran Reilly (Terry), Jo-Anne Asdal (Kjell); his grandchildren: Sharon Chaytor, John Chaytor, Denise Winford, Marie Ikonen and Erik Asdal; and his great-grandchildren Caroline and Patrick Winford, and Saja and Miia Ikonen.
Dad was a man of many talents. He loved working with wood and could fix almost anything. Dad was an avid hunter from a very early age and kept the meat locker full for his wife and girls. Dad loved to camp and travel. Mom and Dad made three trips across Canada in their trusty truck and camper, as well as trips to the Yukon and down to Arizona.
Dad had an amazing memory and loved to recall amusing stories of his life growing up in Caycuse and Duncan. Dad started logging at the age of 15. His favourite memories are of us as a family living in the Gordon River Camp. We were a tight knit little community and have many life-long friends from our time growing up there.
Dad was also an avid reader and loved his books. You could ask him anything and he would know the answer. We tried playing Trivial Pursuit with him and soon realized that he was going to win! We even made him answer the hardest questions and he knew every answer. We gave up!
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 1-5 pm at 706 Rimrock Trail, Nanaimo BC V9R 5W9.
